4. LAUGHTER:
Healthy and spontaneous laughter is incompatible with expression. Find places
and people who can help you be in a good mood. Whenever you have the
opportunity to laugh, please do it. Laughter is therapeutic, it is medicinal. It
can bring healing to a wounded and broken heart. Laughter releases and
eases tension. PLEASE HELP YOURSELF BY LAUGHING PROM TIME TO TIME. Don't go
about looking so depressed and frowning your face, it will not help you. It
will rather worsen your case.
5. EXERCISE: This
is one thing we hardly find time to do, especially, those of us in Africa.
Exercising yourself from time to time will help relieve you of depression. So
try and create time for exercise. It has been proven to be a way of relief to
depression.
6. DEVELOPING A POSITIVE
ATTITUDE: Developing a positive attitude is also one of the ways of dealing
with depression. Don't think negatively of yourself. You are the product of
your mind. The bible says "AS A MAN THINKETH IN HIS HEART, SO HE IS".
Develop a positive attitude towards yourself.
7. MEDICAL CHECK UP: A medical checkup might be necessary
since some cases of depression are symptoms of physical illnesses. Most medical
expert’s advice that victims of major depression should receive professional
help because of the danger of suicide, e.g. there may be a need for medication
that can only be dispensed by a medical professional.
8. GOAL SETTING: Set realistic and attainable goals for yourself. This
is because the setting of unrealistic goals by so many have made their goals
unattainable and also left them depressed. This have eventually resulted
to depression and suicide. When you set realistic goals it is obvious that you
can achieve those goals. An achieved goal brings joy and fulfillment to a
person. This also drives away depression.
