5 Problems Teenagers Face
So many children these days are faced with
diverse kinds of problems. But the unfortunate thing is that most parents don't
even have the faintest idea of what their teenage children are going through. I
will state some problems that I have been opportune to know as I interact with
them. The following are problems teenagers face.
1. BULLYING AT SCHOOL: There are lots of
children who are being bullied at school by other kids and threatened not to
tell anyone or will be severely dealt with. If your child comes home looking
frightened and acting strange, as a parent you need to ask the kid some
questions. But you must have a good relationship with the child for him or her
to open up to you.
Sometime ago a father called me to come and
find out why his some doesn't want to go to school again. The boy was insisting
that his dad should change his school. The dad asked him several times why he
wants to go to another school but the boy refuse to say anything. So the man
called me to see if I can get any information from the boy since am close to
him. It was when I came that the boy opened up that he was being bullied at
school by some teenagers at school. He was also told not to tell anyone else
they will kill him. So for months this teenager has been going through physical
and psychological torment.
2. SEXUAL HARASSMENT AND ABUSE: Teenagers
are the most vulnerable in the society. Some of them are being sexually
harassed and abuse daily at school by other teenagers, teachers and even by
family members at home. Some of them are too hurt to tell anybody while others
feel embarrassed to tell others. A lady told me that she will never get married
to any man. When I inquired from her about her decision she revealed to me that
she was raped by her aunt's husband when she was a teenager and she has never
told anyone. She has suffered emotional and psychological trauma for years.
3. PEER PRESSURE: Coping with bear pressure
is one difficult thing every teenager goes through. Some of them are being
pressurized to do drugs, smoke, and take alcohol. Unfortunately, most teenagers
don't know how to cope with this. And the worse part of it is that they are
threatened not to tell anybody. This is one great challenge every teenager
faces.
4. BROKEN HOME: These days it has become
fashionable for couples to get divorced and remarry for their selfish interest,
without considering their innocent children. A lot of teenagers are suffering
today as a result of their parents' divorce.
5. LACK OF ATTENTION: If there is one thing
everybody loves is attention. Nobody likes to be neglected. But because of the
desire to make money, a lot of parents
to give attention for their children. Parents rather buy video games, toys and
other things they feel the child needs. But the truth is that the teenager
wants his or her parent to be there for him.
